José Luis Puche (Málaga, 1976) is an artist with a degree in Art History from the University of Málaga (2000) and advanced studies in engraving, cultural communication, and pedagogy. His career began in 2005 with a solo exhibition in Málaga, and by 2008, he debuted internationally with Next Stop in Birmingham.

 

His art focuses on drawing, using materials like grease charcoal and water, and is known for its bold and personal approach that explores the tension between appearance and reality, provoking reflection.

Puche has exhibited in renowned venues such as the Centre Pompidou, the Contemporary Art Center of Málaga, and the Sydney Opera House. His work has been showcased in cities like Madrid, Miami, Istanbul, and Milan, and at fairs including the Basel Scope Art Show and YIA Art Fair.

 

He has received notable awards, including the International Emerging Artists Award (Dubai, 2016) and the Manuel Ángeles Ortiz Award (Jaén). In 2020, he designed Málaga’s Semana Santa poster and later contributed to Antonio Banderas' musical Gypsy with stage designs. Recent projects include exhibitions in Sydney (2022), Dubai (2023), Milan, and São Paulo (2024), as well as a large-scale mural in Torremolinos.
